The Matrix a small San Francisco club in the Marina produced some of the finest concert advertising art of the era. The most recognized from the series are Victor Moscoso's Neon Rose posters. In addition to those striking posters there are a wonderfully creative selection of handbills created by lesser known artists. These smaller pieces are both beautiful and scarce.
We are proud to offer the very first CGC graded example of this beautiful handbill to ever appear at public auction.
It is featured in The Art of Rock plate # 2.123. We found another example that was NOT CGC graded that was cataloged as “near mint to near mint minus with a tiny edge/corner ding." That example brought $726 on 6/3/12. The piece offered here is obviously much finer quality with absolutely no flaws evident.
It’s no secret that handbills are far easier to counterfeit than posters. CGC authentication has brought much needed integrity and stability to this very popular segment of the marketplace. Finally you can acquire handbills with confidence knowing you are getting exactly what you pay for!
