This cardboard issue was created to advertise the Patti Smith Group at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on November 10th, 1976. This was the year after Smith had released her debut album, Horses. As the popularity of punk rock grew, the Patti Smith Group would continue touring the United States and Europe for the next couple of years. Smith suffered a neck injury while touring in 1977 and a year later released her commercial breakthrough “Easter” including the successful single "Because the Night" which was co-written by Bruce Springsteen. She became a legendary music icon from those days on.
