Here we have a relic from one of the more exciting events in the history of Rock and Roll. This original first-printing poster is just the second CGC Graded example of a Festival Express run from this Winnipeg venue to ever appear in our auction!
Originally billed as the Trans continental Pop festival, this cross-country tour made stops in three Canadian cities to stage a show with the Grateful Dead, The Band, Janis Joplin, and other acts of the day. This poster advertises the Winnipeg Stadium concert in Manitoba Canada on July 1st, 1970.
The real story however was the train that carried the musicians across Canada during that summer. The camaraderie led to an outrageous non-stop party/ jam session. The joy is forever captured in the 2003 Film "Festival Express".
