The First Appearance of this Vanilla Fudge & Led Zeppelin Canceled Concert Handbill in a PAE auction in over 13 years! This Vanilla Fudge concert was set to occur on Wednesday, January 1st 1969 at the Salem Armory Auditorium, in Salem, Oregon. The event was canceled, and Led Zeppelin was originally scheduled as the warm-up band, although they are NOT listed anywhere on the handbill. They were however, listed in at least two separate newspaper announcements and at least one radio spot to appear at the show. The handbill was produced to promote a series of winter-season concerts held at assorted Oregon venues, all promoted by E.J.D. Enterprises (which was based in Salem). Shows listed include: The E.J.D. 6th Annual Christmas Show at the Salem Armory featuring a local Salem group TYME (12/26/1968), DOUBLE IMAGE at the Salem V.F.W. Hall (12/28/1968) and many more groups & performers, at various Oregon locations, including: The Wailers, The Meteors, Action Co., Gentlemen Wild, Music Box, Morning Reign, Merrilee & The Turnabouts, Feelies, Grants Blueboys, United Flight, The Bards, Stop, and more.

The Salem Oregon concert date was originally scheduled to be Led Zeppelin's 6th concert of their first concert tour of North America, although the gig was possibly cancelled by Vanilla Fudge due to dangerous winter weather in the region, and/or by Led Zeppelin, since some of the members of Zeppelin were very sick from the Hong Kong Flu following their gig in Spokane Washington. Led Zeppelin's road crew drove the band and their equipment, all night through the blizzard for more than 200 miles, from Spokane (immediately after their December 30, 1968 gig at Gonzaga University in the Kennedy Pavillion, which was the 5th concert they had played during their first "Tour of North America 1968/1969") to reach the Seattle airport and fly out of there to LA. The January 2nd evening set in LA was cancelled on account of Jimmy Page having a fever of 104 degrees from the Hong Kong Flu they'd picked up along the way.
