Bedrock One was a “psychedelic community" happening that was presented in San Francisco in 1967 that promised to change the experience of the Dance Hall Rock show. The organizers attempted to create an interactive environment that truly made the attendees part of the event. There are several promotional items that were created for the event but all of them pale in comparison to this handbill that was born from the pen of legendary artist Robert Crumb.
R. Crumb is clearly the most successful and popular artist to emerge from San Francisco in the day. His highly revered ZAP Comix are some of the finest illustrated ephemera from the era. Crumb however created very little gig poster art with this offering is one of his most sought after contributions to the genre. These handbills were printed in a variety of colors this examplewas created on beautiful Goldenrod paper.
