1974 Rick Griffin MAN Slow Motion Promo Poster

This was produced by Rick Griffin as a promotional poster for the band Man, issuing their 1974 LP Slow Motion, on United Artists Records & Tapes. Alfred E. Newman became the popular logo of Mad Magazine from the 1950s and continued to be an influence on 1960s psychedelic poster artists. This is the slightly more common version of this poster since the full Alfred faced posters were only printed in extremely small quantities. This half face of Alfred we have here was printed in larger quantities to promote the LP release, since Mad Magazine's Bill Gaines did not approve of the use of Alfred's face in full to appear on the final promo poster.
