The legendary venue's full name of CBGB & OMFUG stands for "Country, Bluegrass, Blues and Other Music for Uplifting Gormandizers". The theme, along with poetry readings, yielded to the movement into punk rock. This final show, which occurred on October 15th, 2006, featured the great Patti Smith. She was a pioneer of the punk rock movement and played regularly at the club in its early days.
