Sopwith Camel were considered to be one of the top San Francisco bands and were thought to have commercial potential early on . They were the second band after the Jefferson Airplane to score a recording contract. This poster was for a Sopwith Camel show at the Santa Venetia Armory on February 10 1967. According to an uncorroborated source from the Web “The band was originally scheduled to play this Friday night production at the Armory. However the Camel ended up having East Coast obligations and the Grateful Dead took their place.” The poster is round and appears to be hand cut. The boxing style posters that were created for the Santa Venetia Armory go for big $$$. Compared to those this piece is sure to go for a great price. The poster is bright and crisp and it measures approximately 13 3/4 in diameter. The poster is in great condition. There are not tears holes folds or missing paper. The only thing to mention is pencil writing on the back that says “High from Buddha” and 1967 in pencil as well. Really obscure fun and early poster.
