This first printing, pre-concert poster is featured in the Art of Rock as plate 2.107. Moby Grape had the potential to be one of the greatest San Francisco bands of the psychedelic rock genre. They were talented writers & players, and deserve more than just a footnote in the history books. The Matrix was an early small San Francisco club that was managed by Jefferson Airplanes' Marty Balin. Together these factors add up to a very special poster.

The central image for this original poster is an illustration by late 19th, mid 20th century German Illustrator, Heinrich Kley. In this illustration, the Greco-Roman deity Bacchus is portrayed as the source of great drunkenness and debauchery.
