Sam Cooke is often referred to as The King of Soul and he had a short but notable career as a singer and composer contributing to popular music. This early and historic handbill from 1961 promotes a show he performed at the Rockland Palace in Harlem.

Cooke had just signed with RCA Records a couple months prior and his new single "Cupid" had just reached the charts. "Chain Gang" also reached No. 2 on the Billboard pop chart just weeks before this performance. The circumstances around his death 3 years later are to this day still subject to speculation. This original handbill is in high quality condition.
