The Monterey Pop Festival was clearly one of the most pivotal musical events in history. The festival welcomed in the “Summer of Love” and featured the FIRST US PERFORMANCES by both Hendrix and The Who! This is one of the most beautiful important and sought after posters of the entire era and is prominently displayed in The Art of Rock plate 3.5.
We are pleased to offer the very first Museum Quality specimen that has been graded by CGC. This poster printed on silver foil is notoriously difficult to find in this state of preservation. The silver foil magnifies and highlights every little flaw. This example is SUPERB in all respects. No nicks cuts tears pinholes or restoration of any kind. Just a tiny ¼ inch corner bump in the upper right corner keeps it from the flawless 9.8 designation.
According to our record tracking the high previous high water mark for this issue at auction was $4100 on 2/14/13. Of course that poster was NOT independently graded and authenticated by CGC. The specimen offered here is the finest we have ever seen or had the pleasure of offering for sale. This is as "blue chip" of a poster as you could ever hope to have in your collection!
