Rockarama at the Avalon! This poster was designed by underground comix artist and creator of several Vulcan Gas Works Posters Gilbert Shelton. This yellow and black print announced five nights of shows at the Avalon in March of 1969. THis poster features an interesting combination of bands of the day including early performances by Santana and Alice Cooper?Soundproof Presents took over promoting shows at the Avalon Ballroom after the Family Dogs tenure was over. They were responsible for a small number of posters all by prominent artists of the day. Several including this one were printed by The Rip off Press who published such underground classics such as “ The Adventures of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers “and Fat Freddy’s Cat. Sound Proof used several Rip off press artists such as Shelton and Jaxon for their small run of postersThe poster is bright and crisp and it measures 13 30/32” x 17” The poster is in undamaged condition. There are no tears holes folds tape pulls or missing paper. This poster is a true sleeper.
