Presenting for the first time in our auction, a beautiful promo poster for the Blondie Autoamerican album from 1980. This is the original, smaller size, scarcer, full color promo poster, issued on window card stock. The larger version is on far thinner, typical promotional poster stock.
Autoamerican was released in 1980, featuring a cover painting by Martin Hoffman, who previously worked as an illustrator for Playboy magazine, following their having recorded the release in LA.
Their fifth LP, Autoamerican featured multiple musical niches, including jazz, blues, reggae, and ska, climbing to #7 in the US charts, #3 in Britain, and #8 in Australia. Their hit single Rapture was the first rap song to ascend to #1 on the American singles chart, as well as rating #5 on the UK singles chart.
Condition: Staple hole at each corner, 2" bend at lower right corner (tiny bit of flaking), 1 3/8" bend at upper left corner along with two light bends and a corner ding, tiny scratch at upper left edge of image (difficult to see in the
background), 2" bend at bottom center edge of image, and a couple more minor bends (non-color flaking) and corner dings. Will look great in a
frame as is!
