1969–Atlantic City Pop Festival-Atlantic City Race Track-BEST KNOWN COPY-PAE Graded Near Mint 87

Poster dealers try to refrain from using the term “Rare” because in most cases “rare” is a relative term. That is not the case with this lot which is exceedingly rare by any definition of the word. This is just the second copy of this poster ever to appear at public auction and the finest by far of 3 known copies. This 3 day festival took place just 2 weeks before Woodstock and featured many of the All Star bands of the era including Janis Joplin Jefferson Airplane Santana Credence and many more.

The example offered here is bright and fresh with vibrant colors . The poster was lovingly preserved here on the east coast for the past 15 years where it was acquired by a local collector who snagged it in the early eBay days   and just recently walked into our Gallery in Baltimore Maryland! There is a wide and deep group of collectors that actively seek out posters that are truly rare and all but impossible to find. It is understood that if one is lucky enough to locate such an item 99 out of 100 times the quality will leave a lot to be desired. For example the other two highly sought after known copies of this poster are heavily damaged and stained and exhibit paper loss as well.  This is not the case here. This totally original example the finest known by far has no nicks cuts tears pinholes or restoration of any kind!  The winning bidder will be adding a beautiful ultra high quality example of an exceedingly rare poster..the best of both worlds. Condition Details- There are several creases that lightly break the ink in the image of the woman’s head. There are also corner creases and a few light stains.There are 3  light tape pulls on the reverse. There are no tears or pinholes!
