The original, pre-concert first printing handbill being offered here was designed for the original site by Fillmore East poster artist, David Byrd. His signature is present on the bottom margin of the piece. The Woodstock Music and Arts Fair is easily the most famous musical/cultural event of the 1960s. The festival was originally intended to be held in Wallkill, New York. Permits, however, were denied and the festival promoters had to find a new location just a month prior to the festival. The festival was then moved to Bethel, New York. The rest is history. The event represented the peak of the 1960s music scene. In many ways, it also signified the end of the era.
