This ULTRA LARGE beautiful Silk-Screened Doors poster is one of the most requested posters from new collectors. The poster has attracted buyers ever since it appeared in “The Art of Rock”. This is due to the design and exceptional printing quality. It is not an actual event poster, no such concert occured. This poster was originally created for distribution and sale for custom frame shops. This fact does not seem to have detracted from the desirability and collectability of the poster.
Based on it's consistently high auction results the backstory is not a concern for collectors. Whenever a copy comes up for sale there is always enthusiastic bidding. This iconic artwork is featured in The Art Of Rock as plate 3.161 It is too large to encapsulate so graded copies don’t exist..This copy is a little dinged up, as mounted posters are not easy to protect when not framed. This piece must have been floating around naked. Regardless, it’s a great poster and perfect copies demand big dollars and seldom come up for sale. In December 2012 another example which was trimmed and contained surface stains realized $3586 in our auction. Note: This poster is mounted on foam core and was originally sold in this state. This is common to all first state copies...
