This intensely fantastic BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY (w/ JANIS JOPLIN) with SANTANA & CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY Fillmore West concert poster is an internationally popular Rick Griffin concert poster artwork, appearing in most concert poster books featuring music concert & psychedelic posters from the Sixties, including the epic RICK GRIFFIN LAGUNA ART MUSEUM book HEART & TORCH Rick Griffin's Transcendence, a title obviously inspired by this particular incendiary Griffin artwork.

It was produced during the peak of Rick Griffin's quintessential psychedelic poster artwork period, published to promote the upcoming concert, which was held just about a month following the release of Big Brother's second LP, CHEAP THRILLS, which featured the internationally renowned full color Underground Comix EPIC front cover by ROBERT CRUMB and just before the LP reached #1 in October of 1968 on the BILLBOARD charts, remaining fixated at that spot for a run of eight consecutive weeks, with the single PIECE OF MY HEART reaching MEGA hit status soon after it was released.

Without a doubt, this particular Rick Griffin concert poster artwork carved out it's place as one of THE epitome of the most intense BIG BROTHER / JANIS JOPLIN concert posters ever produced, almost immediately following its original distribution in 1968!
