Trip or Freak is a rare collaboration between three of the most prolific and talented artists of the era: Rick Griffin Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. The poster was designed for a 1967 Halloween show at Winterland which featured The Grateful Dead Big Brother and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

The central image is of Lon Chaney in his role in the 1925 classic American silent film "Phantom of The Opera." The background rows are the same image repeated . The script at the top of the poster reads “Trip or Freak” and upon close inspection reveals a hidden image of a bare breasted dancing woman. The “C” in “Quicksilver” was mistakenly omitted from the print.
