Here we have an original, Nat King Cole double-sided handbill from the Apollo Theater in 1952. The Unforgettable piano player and singer got his career jumpstarted with the King Cole Trio Time, a fifteen-minute radio program in 1948. This was the first radio program to be sponsored by an african american musician. Cole began recording and performing pop material soon-after and his stature as a popular star was cemented by hits like All for You and Get Your Kicks on Route 66. In 1952 he was booked at the Apollo. Billing itself as a place where stars are born and legends are made, the Apollo Theater in New York became famous for launching the careers of many incredible artists. The venue is currently a historical landmark.
