It is with great pleasure that we offer one of the rarest and most sought after Grateful Dead concert poster rarities ever created!

This lot contains every positive attribute collectors look for in a vintage 1960's concert poster -- all wrapped up in one impossible to find piece of counter-culture history! Nearly the entire page 188 in The art of Rock is devoted to this issue!

This poster has major historical importance as it was created for an important concert held on April 9, 1967 to protest the Vietnam War. The concert included many of the leading bands of the era including Sopwith Camel, Country Joe and The Fish, Big Brother and the Holding Company.

A very small number of posters were originally produced for this event, all are considered exceedingly rare. At the last minute, The Grateful Dead were added to the bill, so the promoters placed a blue sticker "Plus the Grateful Dead" in the upper right corner. Just a small fraction of the issuance had the Grateful Dead sticker applied, creating a major rarity!

It's also critical to note that this LARGE poster was produced on super thin paper, meaning that very few have survived- with or without the Grateful Dead sticker-- in ANY condition.

While no one can predict the future, it's reasonable to speculate that it could easily be another 5-10 years before this issue is offered in this incredible condition again. It's posters such as this that make up World-Class collections and the collector that prevails victorious here is sure to enjoy tremendous pride of ownership now, and even more with each passing year!
