Janis Joplin, 1943 - 1970 vintage headshop poster produced shortly after her untimely demise in late 1970. The design exhibits Greek pillars covered in growing ivy, flanking a center image of Janis with a small white dove and the sun. The portrait image of Joplin is taken from a famous 1967 photograph by Bob Seidemann. Bob Seidemann is widely acknowledged as one of the premier rock and roll photographers of all time. He captured portraits of and collaborated with many icons like Big Brother and the Holding Company, George Hunter, The Charlatans, Janis Joplin and more over his long & noted career. Seidemann also designed album covers, "Go to Heaven" for The Grateful Dead, and Jerry Garcia's debut solo album, "Garcia". This is the first example of this poster to appear in our auction.
