1967 was the first year that the powerhouse group Cream played in the United States. This run of concert performances in Detroit took place just months after the release of their second album. The Grande Ballroom series produced some of the finest imagery from the 1960’s music scene. In many cases promoter Russ Gibb chose to produce postcards, such as this one to promote events. That being the case Grande cards and card sets have become one of the most highly sought after items by serious collectors. The print runs were low and the artwork was equally compelling with artists like Gary Grimshaw and Carl Lundgren creating visual masterworks on a weekly basis. The material is obscenely difficult to find in undamaged condition plus the history of the Grande is as interesting as any of the San Francisco dance halls.
