This poster advertises Neil Young & The Stray Gators appearance in Tuscaloosa Alabama at the Memorial Coliseum on February 5th 1973. Neil's Stray Gators lineup for the evening was Ben Keith on pedal steel Jack Nitzsche on piano Tim Drummond on bass and Kenny Buttrey on drums. The show was part of Young's infamous "Time Fades Away" tour. The consignor of this poster has testified the piece was acquired directly from someone who attended the show.
If you are as much of a Neil Nut as we are here at PAE then you are probably drooling while gazing upon this vintage relic. Recordings from this concert were released a couple years ago in the Performance Series of the official Neil Young Archives. The release is simply called "Tuscaloosa" and if you are not familiar with it you need to be. Through the beautifully played opener "Here We Are In The Years" (a favorite rarity from his debut record) straight on to the end the show also featured material from After The Gold Rush Harvest Time Fades Away and Tonight's The Night (the "Lookout Joe" is fabulous and YES he played a scorching hot "Alabama" in Alabama!)
