This monster sized vintage Grateful Dead black velvet poster was licensed by Brockum in New York City. The black parts of this poster is overlaid with black flocking which gives it a velvet feel. Posters like this of the era are often referred to as velvet posters. The beautiful image was designed by the legendary artist team Stanley Mouse and the late great Alton Kelley. A killer velvet blacklight poster from back in the day. You don't see 'em like this anymore!
Update / Correction: We originally indicated that the poster was printed in 1971 the year that the “Skull and Roses" Album was released (see printing credit bottom left).
Upon further investigation we now understand that the Merchandising Company Brockum that is also listed in the credits did not exist until the late ‘70’s . Additionally the Skull and Roses stylized image in the poster is credited Mouse /Kelley - 1978 (see bottom of the outer circle on the design). This leads us to the conclusion that the poster was printed in the late 1970’s - Early 1980’s.
