This vintage headshop poster from 1969 by Joe Roberts Jr. features one of the most important figures in the counterculture movement Timothy Leary! This poster reads "Come Together Join the Party" under the phrase "Timothy Leary For Governor of California". In May of 1969 Leary announced that he would be running for governor of California against the Republican incumbent Ronald Reagan. John Lennon went on to write the classic Beatles tune "Come Together" as a campaign song for Leary. Unfortunately Leary's candidacy ended in January of 1970 when he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 1968 drug offense. This poster is visually appealing both under a blacklight and on its own!
