Original 1966 First Printing Handbill from the Matrix featuring Big Brother with Janis Joplin. The art was designed by Stanley Mouse and is a favorite among collectors due to the inclusion of the band member's likenesses. The tiny sized Matrix club was located in the Marina district of San Francisco and was managed for a short period by Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane fame. The club produced a great series of posters and handbills. Several early advertisements for the club like this one here provide collectors an opportunity to acquire a documented history of the music scene in San Francisco during the mid to late sixties. This piece is 100% Original with no restoration!
