Jazz trumpet virtuoso Dizzy Gillespie was gifted with a combination of musicianship showmanship and wit that made him a leader in what Charlie Parker had just recently developed as bebop music. Billing itself as a place "where stars are born and legends are made " the Apollo Theater in New York became famous for launching the careers of many incredible artists. The venue is currently a historical landmark.
