Presenting for the FIRST time in a PAE auction this amazing extremely rare poster designed for Jethro Tull's April 1972 appearance at the Virginia Tech Coliseum Theater! Captain Beefheart was the supporting artist that evening contributing to an absolutely incredible bill of music. This was one of several dates that the two groups played together during 1972.
This show occurred the month following the release of Jethro Tull's fifth studio album Thick As A Brick. This was what many consider to have been the band's first progressive rock album and it has gone down in history as one of the genre's quintessential albums. Earlier that year Captain Beefheart's sixth studio album The Spotlight Kid had been released. This would have been an amazing time in history to catch both of these artists especially on the same bill!
The colors on this poster have held up amazingly over the years and the purple and yellow complement each other nicely. It features an excellent image of Jethro Tull with Ian Anderson in action at the forefront singing and holding his flute at his side. This poster is very difficult to come by and rarely appears in public auctions. This copy is 100% original with no restoration whatsoever! It is sure to be a treasure for any music fan or concert poster collector.
