Psychedelic Art Exchange is thrilled to offer this ORIGINAL ART by beloved Fillmore poster artist Lee Conklin! This pen & ink drawing was created by Conklin for a 1968 Fillmore West concert featuring Spirit and the Jeff Beck Group. This is the final version of the artwork from which the BG-148 poster was produced.

This artwork is truly amazing to look at. It features numerous intricately drawn faces and animals within and behind the lettering which are incredible to view close up. This original artwork also features sketches and notes written in the margins as well as several pasted on pieces and white out with the blue and gray drafting marks still faintly visible under pen and ink and sharpie inked border.

While the final BG-148 poster is stunning it is exciting to see where the artwork originated and the absence of the bright reds and purples that are featured on the completed poster allow you to better view the intricacies that were sketched into the piece.

Lee Conklin designed some of the greatest posters in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series. The BG-148 is an excellent example of his vibrant intricate psychedelic art style. Conklin is perhaps best known for iconic album cover for Santana's debut album which was originally art for BG-134 poster.

Original poster art is incredibly rare and valuable pieces like this are generally traded privately and seldom come up for public offering. While original comic art pages used to sell for less than the books they’ve now become rare desirable pieces of art that sometimes exceed the value of the books themselves. We expect to see this happen with original concert poster artwork as well. This is absolutely a collecting opportunity that is not to be missed.

Additionally this poster featured an incredible lineup of artists! Jeff Beck is undoubtedly one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Spirit headed by guitarist Randy California released their second album that same month. Linda Tillery Sweet Linda Divine and Sweetwater played as supporting acts.
