The record was released overseas on another label the year prior and then re-mixed for release by Sire for the US with a different song listing and order. The Tom Tom Club was founded by the Talking Heads Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom included a cover version of the Velvet Underground’s Femme Fatale with David Byrne on backing vocal.
