This large original poster features the poem "The World Is A Beautiful Place" by the late great Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The poem was written in 1955 during a time when the Vietnam War and Civil Rights Movement were imminent. He shares an ironic perception of the world and how life can truly be beautiful no matter how long it takes for any person to come to that conclusion.
The poster exhibits a photograph by George Krause and was produced in 1970 by Poster Prints Conshohocken PA. Ferlinghetti was essential to the Beat generation. He co-founded the iconic City Lights bookstore in San Francisco’s North Beach and was responsible for publishing some of the work of his fellow Beat poets including Allen Ginsberg’s Howl and Other Poems for which he and Ginsberg faced obscenity charges in a famed trial. Ferlinghetti passed away just weeks ago at the age of 101. |
