1974–Margo St. James-FIRST Annual Masquerade Ball-Longshoreman's Hall Original Poster-FROM THE ST JAMES ESTATE! PAE Graded Excellent '79'

This poster is from Margo's personal collection. The St. James Estate needed to part with items to cover her medical expenses.

Earlier this year Margo St. James passed away at the age of 83. This super rare original poster was created to promote the FIRST annual Masquerade Ball held at the legendary Longshoreman's Hall on October 27th 1974. Created by Artist Jim Alles and Graphic Design by David Willis. Performers listed include The Pointer Sisters Linda Lovelace Tommy Smothers guest speakers belly dancers and more.

In the 1970's the self-described prostitute and sex-positive feminist was the founder of the "COYOTE" organization (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics) which advocated decriminalization of prostitution. Fund raising involved an annual hosting of the well-attended Hooker's Masquerade Ball. This is the first example of this poster to appear in our auction.
