| Here we have an original Levon Helm black & white variant concert poster produced for his show on May 7th 1978 at the historic Armadillo World Headquarters. The late great Levon Helm is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians of his generation. One of the irreplaceable voices of The Band Helm was a master of soulful lead & harmony vocals a force to be reckoned with on the drum kit and an inspired mandolin player. Two years after the last waltz Levon went on the road with his new group the RCO All-Stars band which included Fred Carter Jr. the late great Dr. John (Mac Rebennack) Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn. Levon was cherished by many people / fans artists and songwriters alike - and was considered a musician's musician for decades right up until his sad passing in 2012. WE LOVE LEVON! Posters from the Armadillo in Texas are red hot and we see this as just the early days in a long trend. The Armadillo World Headquarters opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premiere venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980.
