Everything changed for Janis Joplin when she joined Big Brother and the Holding Company. That band because of her addition went on to become a major force in the emerging San Francisco psychedelic rock scene. In 1967 she quickly gained national attention after her performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. By 1970 little girl pearl had grown into a full-fledged sensation and was receiving top billing under her own name at large capacity venues. Later that year sadly this incredible talent was gone from this earth.
