This poster is from the legendary Ultrasounds Collection the most extensive and finest quality collection of concert posters from this era. This lot is amongst the very FIRST posters from the Ultrasounds Collection to be CGC authenticated and graded. As such it’s unique and historically important provenance has been specially designated on the CGC label.
A portion of the proceeds of this lot will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Together we CAN end hunger. Here is a rare pacific northwest poster featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Moore Theatre in Seattle Washington and the Starry Night in Portland Oregon on September 9th and 10th 1989. Mary's Danish was in support. The Chili Peppers were in their early prime supporting their 1989 album release “Mother’s Milk”. The record went gold in early 1990 with “Knock Me Down” the Stevie Wonder cover “Higher Ground” and was the first step for the band in achieving international success. This is the first time we’ve offered this Original Poster in our auction. It was produced by renowned modern poster artist Mike King.
“Telephone pole flyers” like this are highly collectible and are notably representative of the music loving culture that produced them. Unlike many of the most popular and sought after concert posters from the 1960’s and 1970’s there were no official reprints of these posters produced that are still readily available in big quantities today. This means collectors are forced to chase down the few surviving Original First Printings like this Museum Quality Condition example here!
