Kinky Friedman is one of the most unique south-west songwriters to ever grace a stage. His country western career during the 70’s began to include social commentary maudlin ballads and raucous humor. He has toured with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson among others. Friedman's first three albums fused his rollicking blend of country rock and boogie with major-label production values while the lion's share of his later releases appeared on smaller independent labels. He ran for Governor of Texas as an independent receiving 12.6% of the vote and placed fourth in the six-person race! "If I'm elected Texas' first Jewish governor I'll reduce the speed limit to 54.95."
