Starting in 1985 stand up comedian Jay Leno was a regular guest / substitute host for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show. In 1992 he permanently replaced Carson as the host and launched his career into a household name worldwide. This original cardboard poster was produced for his appearance Universal Amphitheatre during summer of 1986.
The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union.
