If you want early you can't do much better than this 1966 DEEP BLUES concert poster from San Francisco featuring the great Lightin' Hopkins! The Jabberwok started as a successful jazz club in the early sixties until it was purchased by Bill "Jolly Blue" Ehlert in 1965. Ehlert converted much of the venue’s performances to a more psychedelic sound. In 1966 Ehlert hired Jesse Cahn who had been a guest drummer for the Chambers Brothers to co-manage the Jabberwock while he ran the Matrix in San Francisco.
