Here we have an original Armadillo World Headquarters poster produced for a concert featuring the spectacular Dire Straits in late 1980! Dire Straits fronted by guitar wizard Mark Knopfler were one of the most popular bands during the late seventies and mid-eighties. During the month of this Texas concert the group was touring to support the release of their third studio album "Making Movies". This original poster was designed by noted Austin artist Guy Juke.
The Armadillo opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premiere venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. The legendary music club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10 year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere!
