Presenting the FIRST CGC Graded example of this historic poster to appear in our auction! This concert honored J.R.R Tolkien's hero from the epic fantasy Novel "The Hobbit." It featured an early San Francisco appearance of the new addition to Big Brother & The Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin who arrived a month earlier after being persuaded by Chet Helms.
While CGC has labeled this as a handbill the measurements are certainly that of a poster! When you recognize we have sold over 10 000 lots totalling many millions of dollars and this is the FIRST specimen to appear in our auction it is easy to understand the excitement we experienced at having the very SPECIAL opportunity to offer this incredible piece of early 1966 history to the collecting community!
