This was the last poster in the late great Wes Wilson’s steady run working for Bill Graham. The story goes: Wilson and Graham were at a disagreement when it came to negotiating pay. Many of these concert poster artists were earning pittances and Wilson became fed up with it. With his wife as his muse (as seen in BG-58 BG-60 and BG-62) Wes Wilson depicted a beautiful nude woman with her hand out begging for scraps almost tauntingly as symbols for how little he was earning for his work from Graham.
These earlier first printing Bill Graham Fillmore series posters were printed in much smaller print runs than the later numbers in the series. Therefore they are scarcer & more sought after. This poster especially can be difficult to locate in such great condition like the one you see here due to its long larger size.
From ERIC KING's description of the BG-62 in his authoritative Collector's Guide: "One of the nice touches of this poster is the yin/yang symbol in the woman's hand into which Wes has paced the male arrow symbol and the female plus sign symbol with both symbols containing faces. Many people believe that this his last poster in this part of the series was his best. Both the drawing of the woman and that of the men's faces are among his best drawings. By This point he had thoroughly modified the Roller alphabet so that now it was totally his own."
