The Reverend Al Green made waves in the music world back in the seventies with a series of soul hit singles including "Take Me to the River" and "Let's Stay Together". He has been celebrated for decades as one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music and the last of the great soul signers. This original cardboard poster was produced for his appearance with Freda Payne at the Fox Theatre in San Diego during spring of 1979.
The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union. This original cardboard poster is in Museum Quality Condition!
