A new milestone for us at PAE has been reached with this amazing original 1965 poster featuring The Rascals VERY early in their career. We have never seen the first original printing of this poster surface in our auctions until now!
The ultra scarce poster was produced to promote the group’s appearances during the summer of 1965 at The Barge a floating night club at the Hamptons in Long Island New York. “When you came into The Barge from the moment you entered there we had you ” recalls Felix Cavaliere an original founding member of The Rascals.
Compared to the basketball courts and gyms the band was playing in those days the sound and energy at The Barge made the venue a highlight for the group. During that summer The Rascals built momentum and a wide fanbase while playing at The Barge. Word of their infectious concert performances eventually lead to new management with the legendary Sid Bernstein. The following year the band had a record deal.
We wouldn’t expect to see another one of these posters surface for collectors ANYTIME soon! How many more surviving copies of this relic could possibly be out there?
