Psychedelic Art Exchange is thrilled to offer this ORIGINAL ART by beloved Fillmore poster artist Lee Conklin! This pen & ink drawing was created by Conklin for a 1969 Fillmore West concert featuring the band Spirit. This is the final version of the artwork which the poster was produced from.
Lee Conklin designed some of the best posters in the Fillmore series. The BG-163 is a perfect example of the artist’s surreal style and is certainly one of his weirdest psychedelic creations. Conklin is perhaps best known for iconic album cover for Santana's debut album which was originally art for BG-134 poster.
Original poster art is incredibly rare and valuable pieces like this are generally traded privately and seldom come up for public offering. Very cool and authentic piece see the doodle and notes in the margin.
Great late ‘60s line up at the Fillmore that weekend. Spirit was headed by guitarist Randy California. In 1969 the group was transitioning from a pure psychedelic band to a more eclectic sound. Alvin Lee and Ten Years after and Country weather played in support.
