This poster is from the legendary Ultrasounds Collection the most extensive and finest quality collection of concert posters from this era. This lot is amongst the very FIRST posters from the Ultrasounds Collection to be CGC authenticated and graded. As such it’s unique and historically important provenance has been specially designated on the CGC label.
The net proceeds of this lot will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Together we CAN end hunger. Based in North Carolina since 1981 the non-profit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina annually distributes over 70 million pounds of food and household items throughout their 24 county service region. In the 1970's Jonathan Richman founded the group Modern Lovers a very influential proto-punk band. Since then he has had an extensive solo career. This is an original poster promoting Richman at Berbati's Pan in Portland during summer 2001. The famous Berbati's Pan was a great place to experience live music from its opening in 1994 through 2010 when it finally closed its doors. These posters were produced in tiny quantities for small venues on very short notice. There were no official Reprints of these posters! We definitively know from printing records and first hand accounts by artist Mike King that these posters were issued in quantities of 25 – 750 with the most common print runs being just 175 250 or 350!
