COLLECTOR ALERT! This lot is so impossibly rare that although it appears in Eric King's Collector's Guide Mr. King has never actually seen the poster - just the handbill!
This extremely difficult to locate Original Concert Poster is appearing in our auction for the FIRST TIME and with CGC grading! Mouse studios created this pre-concert first & only printing 1967 poster to promote a New Years Eve show at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum in Phoenix Arizona. This super rare issue features Canned Heat with the 8th Penny Matter in support.
The world famous concert poster expert researcher and authority Eric King has stated in his guide that the image for FD-671231 apparently was not an authorized use of the Family Dog logo. "It appeared without the consent of Chet Helms. I have not seen the poster of this image but have been told by a reliable source that he has a copy in his collection."
Very low quantities of these posters were produced (there were no reprints) and our records clearly show that VERY FEW of these original printings have survived the test of time in ANY condition. We have never handled this issue in our 13 years of auctioning. More importantly this one is blessed with third party certification - the FIRST to appear in any public auction!
CGC authentication has brought much needed integrity and stability to this very popular segment of the vintage concert materials marketplace. Simply by authenticating a collectible like this in any other market it would be worth several multiples of previously sold examples.
