Here we have a 1970 Festival Express treat! This rare item is a relic from one of the more exciting events in the history of Rock and Roll. This is an official “Rumpersticker” from the tour. A variety of these were produced and distributed at various locations along the historic train ride which consisted of Janis Joplin The Grateful Dead The Band Delaney & Bonnie Buddy Guy Traffic Ian & Sylvia James & The Good Brothers and more.
The vintage Rumpersticker shown here measures 4" circle and is 100% Original with no restoration whatsoever. In August 2018 we auctioned a press kit which contained a publicity photo of Sharon Banks wearing Rumperstickers on her backside as part of a press release. This is an amazingly scarce item to have surfaced and now become available to all collectors of this era to finally own!
Originally billed as the Trans Continental Pop festival this cross country tour made stops in three Canadian cities to stage shows. The real story however was the train that carried the musicians across Canada in the summer of 1970. The camaraderie led to an outrageous non-stop party/ jam session. The joy is forever captured in the 2003 Film “Festival Express”.
