This beautiful original poster was produced during the final closing week of Armadillo World Headquarters for a concert featuring the spectacular Maria Muldaur in late 1980!
Without a doubt a poster that has everything going for it and in high quality condition! Muldaur personally signed this specimen with an obvious nod to her 1970's hit song "Midnight at the Oasis" by inscribing the top of the poster "Live from the Oasis" - which adds to the bidding a fond farewell to the venue and noting it will be her last performance there!
Maria Muldaur enjoyed an eventful career spanning several decades. She was part of the American folk music revival in the early 1960's. Then she joined Jim Kweskin & His Jug Band as a featured vocalist and occasional violinist. She had a great working relationship with Peter Rowan a few years later and she also briefly joined the Jerry Garcia Band as a backing vocalist in the late 1970's.
The Armadillo opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premiere venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. The legendary music club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10 year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere! This poster here has just emerged from a recently unearthed and long held collection of Texas material.
