Coverage of Marty Balin's sad passing a couple years ago spurred worldwide interest in The Airplane The Matrix and Balin's role with both. Balin co-founded Jefferson Airplane. He got a group of investors together to open the Matrix so San Francisco bands playing psychedelic music would have a dedicated performance space to call their own. Balin gave the investors a 75% interest in the club while keeping a 25% interest for himself in return for managing the club. The Matrix was a tiny San Francisco club that held 150. How many copies of this foil poster could have been created to promote this small show? Not to mention the late great RICK GRIFFIN worked on the design of this Matrix issue!
