This is an original double sided Elektra Records promotional flyer for The Doors first “Absolutely Live” double live album. Although somewhat miss-represented by the record company the album became a cult favorite very quickly.
The album cover (and this handbill) both displayed photos of Jim Morrison from two years prior to the album’s release which infuriated Morrison. He had changed his appearance dramatically since the band's early days growing a beard and discarding his onstage leather attire in an attempt to overcome his "rock god" image. He looked nothing like the photo Elektra used for the cover or the accompanying promo material.
The original handbill exhibited here advertises the release of the album coinciding with the band’s appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival on August 29th 1970. Very few of these handbill promos have survived the test of time. This is a MUST for any serious collector or Doors fan in general! HIGH QUALITY CONDITION!
